Some premieres instantly make you feel that the brand has nailed the brief for people who love pure driving. This one definitely does it for me: the new Porsche 911 GT3 Sport Cabrio (S/C). For the first time, Porsche is giving the GT3 a fully automatic soft top, taking the whole naturally aspirated flat-six experience to another level.
Under the rear lid sits a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six producing 510 hp and 450 Nm, revving all the way to 9,000 rpm. That part may not be new, but it’s still sick. Just as importantly, Porsche offers this model exclusively with a short-ratio six-speed manual, so everything here is built around driver involvement.
Even better, the GT3 S/C isn’t just a flashy convertible with a GT badge. It uses lightweight solutions known from the 911 S/T and, despite weighing 1,497 kg, it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reaches 313 km/h. More than 300 km/h with no roof... sick, once again.
The Porsche 911 GT3 Sport Cabrio starting price is €269,000, according to the German configurator.
